MURRAY’S EXCHANGE
A REVITALISATION PROJECT
Elkstone has a vision to revitalise Murray’s Exchange - a landmark Belfast site with a rich history, large parts of which have laid vacant for many years.
Plans have been announced for a new 870-bedroom purpose-built student accommodation scheme at Murray’s Exchange, which is adjacent to the new Transport Hub in the city centre.
As well as helping to significantly address the continued demand for student accommodation in Belfast, the scheme would deliver a wide range of economic and community benefits for the area. These include increased footfall, more employment opportunities, and enhanced activity for surrounding businesses.
The residential units at the proposed scheme will include a mix of clusters, with single bedrooms including ensuites, a shared kitchen, living and dining space and self-contained studios with private kitchens.
The development site was formerly occupied by Murray’s Tobacco Factory, a portion of which has been listed and developed for office accommodation. The remainder of the site not currently in use has been vacant since 2005 when Murray’s Tobacco Factory announced its closure.
PUBLIC CONSULTATION EVENT
As part of the Pre-Application Community Consultation, a public consultation event was held on 3rd October at Murray’s Exchange, at which members of the public had the opportunity to find out more information about the proposals and provide feedback. This information is in the boards below (click to enlarge).
